Decoy Dog RAT Discovery
Infoblox Senior Director of Threat Intelligence, Renée Burton
Decoy Dog is a sophisticated remote access trojan (RAT) toolkit discovered by Infoblox in April 2023. Decoy Dog is a major update to open-source software, Pupy, and contains features typically associated with nation state hackers. It has been used by a small number of advanced persistent threat actors to maintain access to compromised systems for over a year. This talk with cover the discovery of Decoy Dog, the steps Infoblox took to distinguish it from Pupy, how we separated the controllers into different operating groups, and describe the features that indicate the work of an advanced persistent threat (APT) actor.
